The Cambodia visa policy defines the types of visa a particular foreign traveler may apply for. Currently, the Cambodian Government issues a regular visa, a visa on arrival, or an online visa for eligible visitors. Moreover, the visa policy lists the nationals of countries that may visit Cambodia visa-free.

There are 9 visa-exempt countries whose nationals may enjoy traveling to Cambodia without a visa. The freedom of movement was granted due to an agreement signed between the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states. Although these travelers are subject to the same entry rules, the time they may spend in Cambodia varies.

The Cambodia e-Visa is a single-entry electronic visa that was implemented in Cambodia in 2006. Since then, it has been a great tool in facilitating travel for visitors from all around the world. Now, citizens of over 200 countries may apply online for it and enjoy traveling for tourism and transit purposes. A single visit to Cambodia may last for 30 days.

Keep in mind that traveling on Cambodia e-Visa is possible only through a few designated ports of entry. There are 3 airports (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanouk) and 4 border crossing points (Cham Yeam, Poi Pet, Bavet, Tropaeng Kreal) that accept online visas.

A regular visa can only be issued in person at the Cambodian Embassy. Although short-term travel to Cambodia is allowed with the visa on arrival and online visa, if you wish for your stay to last longer, it is essential to obtain a regular visa. Once you have the visa, you may visit Cambodia for purposes including permanent employment, residence, or education.

On arrival in Cambodia, you need to participate in a clearance conducted by the immigration officers. You will be asked to present the essential documents – a valid passport and two copies of the approved visa. You may also be asked for additional documentation, depending on your nationality.

Who can enter Cambodia?

Cambodia welcomes all foreign travelers as long as they have the mandatory documents required for entry. If you would like to experience a short-term travel to Cambodia, apply for a visa on arrival or an e-Visa. In case of a long-term visit, it may be essential to schedule an appointment at the nearest Cambodian Embassy and obtain a regular visa.

Remember that the member states of the ASEAN association respect the granted freedom of movement. Therefore, citizens of 9 designated countries may enjoy visa exemption and visit Cambodia traveling only on a passport.

Methods of getting a visa to Cambodia

If you wish to apply for a visa to Cambodia, there are two Tourist Visas that you can choose from. Select the one that is more convenient to obtain and enjoy your travel.

Electronic visa (e-Visa)

The Cambodia electronic Tourist Visa, also known as Cambodia e-Visa, allows eligible foreigners entry to the country. It may be obtained during an online application. The procedure should not take more than 10 minutes of your free time.

After filling in the application form and covering the visa fee, your inquiry will be submitted for processing. Once approved, an authorized Cambodia visa will be sent to your e-mail.

Visa on arrival (VOA)

The Cambodian visa on arrival (VOA) is a type of single-entry Tourist Visa available while entering the country at the designated entry ports. It allows foreign passport holders to cross the borders of Cambodia and enjoy short-term travel for purposes of tourism and leisure.

To obtain the visa, provide the necessary documentation and pay the applicable visa fee.

Entry requirements for children

Every foreign citizen, regardless of age, is required to have a valid visa to enter Cambodia. The only exception is the nationals of the ASEAN member states who are guaranteed the freedom of movement with Cambodia. The visa application should be completed by the minor’s parent or guardian, a child must not travel alone.

Transit information

If you plan on traveling to another final destination through Cambodia, you should know that a Transit Visa is not required for passengers arriving at the Phnom Penh International Airport. However, you must leave on the same aircraft that you arrived in. Otherwise, according to the Cambodia visa policy, you must apply for a suitable visa.

Important information

• The Tourist Visa policy of Cambodia allows foreigners to apply for two different visas – visa on arrival or online visa. They both grant a single visit to the country for purposes of tourism and transit, lasting up to 30 days.
• In case of traveling to Cambodia for an extended period of time for reasons including permanent work, residence, or education, it is essential to apply for a regular visa. This should be applied for in person at the nearest Embassy.
• Countries that are granted visa-free entry to Cambodia for their citizens are Brunei, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. All they need for travel is a valid passport.
• Traveling to Cambodia on an online visa, keep in mind you can enter the country only through 7 designated ports of entry (3 international airports and 4 border crossings).
• There is no need to apply for a Transit Visa if you intend on leaving Cambodia on the same aircraft in which you arrived in the country. It is also essential to land at the Phnom Penh International Airport. In other cases, an appropriate visa is needed.
