Transit Visa

Transit Visa

A transit visa is a special type of visa that allows foreign citizens to pass through the transit area of one country on their way to another destination. The main purpose of this visa is to enable travelers to change airports and continue their journey problem-free.

The transit visa does not allow travelers to stay in the country for extended periods of time or to take up employment abroad. If you wish to pursue longer travel, you should obtain another visa – a tourist visa, business visa, work visa, resident visa, etc.

You can obtain the visa at the embassy – simply schedule a visit at the office and complete the essential documentation. However, you can also apply online for the transit visa if you need it. The procedure is very convenient as you can get your visa directly to your e-mail address.

The transit visa is usually issued for up to 5 days. As a temporary visa, it cannot be renewed.

What is a transit visa?

A transit visa is a type of temporary travel document that allows international travelers to pass through a foreign country in order to reach their final destination. It is usually issued for air travel, however, you can also obtain a transit visa for travel by sea and by land.

You are required to apply for an airport transit visa if you change flights in one country to travel to another destination or if you plan on leaving the port within a short time after your arrival. The transit visa enables travel for those whose trip cannot be finished without stops along the way.

Keep in mind that while traveling on a transit visa, you will not be allowed to leave the transit area of the port of your arrival. It is a designated area where you can stay until the connecting flight is ready to board. You cannot leave the airport as it may result in a penalty.

How to obtain a transit visa?

There are two ways in which you can obtain the airport transit visa before your journey.

You may schedule an appointment at the embassy of the country you would like to visit and apply for the visa in person. Complete the registration form and submit the essential documentation. You may also be required to participate in a consular interview. Once your visa is ready, collect it from the office.

However, you can also obtain the airport transit visa online. The application process is uncomplicated – fill in the visa application form, submit the required documents in PDF format, and cover the processing fee. As soon as our visa is approved, it will be delivered to your e-mail address.

Both visas remain valid for the same time, so you should select the visa application process that seems convenient to you. Both the traditional and the online form require you to provide the same personal data and travel details. If you need a transit visa, apply online or visit the embassy.

How long is the transit visa valid?

The specific validity period of your visa issued for transit purposes depends mostly on your nationality and the country you plan to visit. For more information on the exact period of effectiveness for the visa, you should directly contact the respective embassy.

On average, the transit visa is issued for a time period from 24 hours up to 5 days, as it serves only as a temporary travel document. Keep in mind that you cannot request a visa extension.
