Egypt Entry Requirements

If you want to visit Egypt, you need to meet the entry conditions and prepare all necessary documents, including a valid passport and a visa. Most travelers can obtain an e-Visa and enter Egypt without problems. Those who are not eligible for an online visa must contact the nearest embassy for more information.

The Gulf Cooperation Council members usually don’t need a visa to stay in Egypt for a short-term period. However, it is recommended to check all the requirements before the trip as the rules may change.

What is more, the Egyptian government lifted up most of the Covid-19 restrictions in June 2022 for travelers. You don’t need to show vaccination proof or negative test results anymore. But remember to have a valid passport/ID, a visa, and travel insurance.

Also, it is required to complete Egypt Health Declaration. The form was introduced as a safety measure, and you need to provide basic information such as name, surname, nationality, date of birth, etc. Don’t forget about travel insurance as well. It is required to have it to be in Egypt.

Testing, Vaccination, and Quarantine Requirements

Testing, proof of vaccination, and quarantine aren’t required anymore when it comes to entry to Egypt. You don’t need to provide negative testing, and it doesn’t matter if you are vaccinated or not. Remember only about the health declaration form, travel insurance, a visa, and a valid passport.

What is more, you can obtain your electronic visa in the online application process within minutes just by following three simple steps: completing the form, covering the fee, and receiving your online visa via email in PDF form.

It is recommended to print it out as it will be checked by the proper authorities at the border crossing. An e-Visa has two types: a single-entry permit valid for 3 months that enables one to stay in the country for up to 1 month and a multiple-entry permit with a 6-month validity period and 30 days of stay.

Important Information

All incoming travelers to Egypt (including nationals and residents) must complete the health declaration form and provide basic personal and trip information, contact details, and health status. It is very simple, as you can do everything online. You just need an electronic device with an internet connection.

Also, it is necessary to get travel insurance to stay in Egypt. These travel rules were implemented as a safety measure because of the Covid-19 pandemic and other reasons, so you must obey them.

Besides, keep in mind that a valid passport for at least 6 months is mandatory, as well as a visa if you come from a country that is not on the visa-free list.
