Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many worldwide governments decided to introduce some additional safety measures aimed at minimizing the risk of the spread of the new cases and protecting the health of incoming travelers as well as nationals of given countries.
One of the Covid-related safety measures was the introduction of online health and travel declarations obligatory for all visitors or certain groups of travelers, often including even nationals of said countries.
Usually, the health registration that one must complete before traveling during the ongoing pandemic is called the Passenger Locator Form. However, some countries use their own names, e.g., India – Air Suvidha Form or Colombia – Check-MIG.
Do remember that the PLF is not the same as the eVisa. In many cases, you may need both documents.
Who needs a Passenger Locator Form?
Currently, most European destinations lifted the requirement to complete the PLF before the planned departure. However, some other countries in the world are still requiring incoming passengers to present the receipt of the completed health and travel declaration form, e.g., Colombia and Singapore.
Sometimes, failure to complete the PLF may even result in being fined for not adhering to the country’s entry regulations. You may also need to quarantine or perform a post-arrival test if arriving without the mandatory PLF.

What you need to complete a Passenger Locator Form?
The requirements that you need to meet to complete your PLF are minimal and common in the majority of countries:
- a valid travel document (passport/ID card)
- an active email address
- stable Internet connection
- any working electronic device (tablet/PC/laptop/phone)
Additionally, every traveler should prepare the most essential details about their planned trip, such as the address of booked accommodation, departure and arrival dates, travel purpose, etc.
A traveler will also need to provide some other information, including personal details and contact information.
Depending on the country, some governments may require an applicant to answer a few health-related questions, e.g., about the specific symptoms that may be characteristic of Covid-19 or questions that allow evaluating whether a person could have recently contacted persons infected with the virus.
Sometimes, you may also need to attach the following Covid-related documents:
- a negative test report
- a valid vaccination certificate
How to submit a PLF online
Passenger Locator Forms can be completed entirely online in no time from the comfort of your home. Use your working electronic device and follow a few simple steps:
- Check whether you need a PLF for the country you plan to travel to.
- Fill out the online form with the required details (usually, PLF must be completed 72 hours prior to the planned arrival).
- Carefully double-check all the details entered – they must be error-free, true, and up-to-date.
- Pay the processing fee.
- Receive your PLF approval via email.
Upon entering the country of your destination, you will be asked to present the code or PLF confirmation. Once the code will be delivered to your email address, print it out and/or save its digital copy on your electronic device.
