Traveling with a Ukrainian passport

Ukrainian passport takes 34th place in Henley & Partners’ global passport ranking. This means the document has great travel mobility and allows its holders to visit a lot of countries.

As of the beginning of 2023, there are 90 visa-free countries for Ukrainian passport holders. Ukrainian citizens can also enter many other foreign countries upon obtaining an electronic visa, a visa on arrival, or a traditional embassy visa, depending on the destination’s entry requirements.

Note that regardless of the entry policy, you must have an international passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival. Foreign border services may also ask for documents proving the purpose of the travel and the availability of sufficient financial resources for the planned period of stay.

Access to visa-free countries does not automatically give you the right to work in them – you need to get a special work permit or apply for an employment visa.

The Ukrainian passport application process

One must be a citizen of Ukraine to apply for a Ukrainian passport. Persons acquiring Ukrainian citizenship by naturalization can be issued Ukrainian passports only after they have terminated foreign citizenship or submitted a declaration renouncing the foreign nationality.

Let us walk you through the application process for a Ukrainian passport:

  1. Schedule an appointment at the office.
  2. Collect required documents and attend the office at a scheduled time.
  3. Lodge the application, take a photo, and pay the fees.
  4. Await the passport production and further delivery.
  5. Collect your passport.
