The Taiwanese passport is an official travel document issued for citizens of Taiwan planning to pursue international trips. It comprises the most important biometric information about the applicant, such as name, surname, gender, date of birth, and place of birth. The standard Taiwanese passport will remain valid for up to 10 years.

The Taiwanese passport application process

In order to apply for the Taiwanese passport, it is mandatory to organize a visit at the official passport office. As for now, it is not possible to conduct the application procedure online. For your registration to be successful, make sure to collect all the required documents prior to the appointment. Moreover, remember that minors should be accompanied by their parents or guardians.

  • Complete the main passport application form in person
  • Complete additional questionnaires provided at the office
  • Submit the required documentation
    • Applicant’s birth certificate
    • Applicant’s parents’ marriage certificate
    • Two copies of parents’ Taiwan passports
    • Three copies of formal passport photographs
  • Make the payment for the processing fee of your passport (45 USD)
  • Wait for the approval notice to collect the authorized passport (10 weeks)

NOTE: If you were born before February 1980, you can only apply for a Taiwan passport if your father is an official Taiwanese citizen. Younger applicants do not need to obey this regulation.
