Zimbabwe visa policy

Zimbabwe visa policy is a set of travel restrictions imposed on foreign citizens by the government of Zimbabwe.

As established by the tourist visa policy of Zimbabwe, certain countries are exempted from the requirement of having a visa. Nationals of the rest of the countries must get a tourist visa to Zimbabwe using a proper application method.

The easiest method is to apply for a Zimbabwe visa online. This option is available to citizens of more than 50 countries. Applicants complete a few steps and receive the approved online visa to Zimbabwe by email.

Citizens of some countries can obtain a Zimbabwe visa on arrival. Travelers may complete an application at the Zimbabwean entry point without any pre-arrangements. However, long queues are possible, and this application method may require much time.

Some travelers are not eligible for a Zimbabwe online visa and a visa on arrival. In this case, per Zimbabwe visa policy, they should apply for a regular visa to Zimbabwe at the embassy/consulate/foreign mission of Zimbabwe.

Who can enter Zimbabwe?

Entry into Zimbabwe is available for citizens of all countries. The most important thing is to meet the Zimbabwe entry requirements and the regulations stipulated by the visa policy of Zimbabwe.

For some countries, Zimbabwe introduced visa-free access. Others must obtain a visa from one of the Zimbabwe embassies unless they are eligible for facilitated methods – online application for a Zimbabwe eVisa or a visa on arrival.

Entry requirements for Zimbabwe

An international passport is required to cross the borders of Zimbabwe. It must have three blank pages left and a validity of at least 6 months from arrival.

According to the Zimbabwe visa policy, most travelers need a Zimbabwe visa to enter the country. The application methods differ, so it is essential that a tourist checks which method should be used for their nationality.

All passengers of 4 years old and over must provide either a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure or a COVID-19 certificate proving a full vaccination course.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is necessary for persons traveling from a country with a high risk of yellow fever transmission.

Methods of getting a visa to Zimbabwe

There are several ways to apply for a Zimbabwe visa: online, upon arrival, and by visiting the embassy.

Electronic visa

Zimbabwe eVisa is an electronic visa that allows travelers to have a quick and straightforward application process. It takes place online: an applicant provides their information in the form, pays the fees, and downloads the approved online visa to Zimbabwe.

Travelers may choose a single-entry or a double-entry option. Persons willing to visit both Zimbabwe and Zambia can apply online for a KAZA UNIVISA.

Visa on arrival

Zimbabwe visa on arrival is issued when a traveler arrives at the entry point. Applicants lodge the application, along with the necessary documents, and receive a visa to Zimbabwe right away.

This method allows some flexibility but has its disadvantages: the queues for these visas are long.

Regular visa

A regular visa to Zimbabwe must be obtained by visitors who are not eligible for an electronic visa and a visa on arrival. The in-person presence of an applicant in the Zimbabwean embassy is required.

To apply for a regular Zimbabwe visa, it is necessary to make an appointment at the embassy and collect the required documentation. During the visit, the applicant may have a visa interview with a consular officer.

Entry requirements for children

Children must have the same required documents as adults. However, children under the age of five do not have to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test certificate.

Every minor must have a separate Zimbabwe visa. The application for underage visitors should be filled out by their parents or legal guardians.

Transit information

Travelers do not need a transit visa if they do not intend to leave the airport transit area. Still, it is required to satisfy other entry requirements to Zimbabwe, including carrying COVID-19 vaccination proof or a negative PCR test.

If a person does not have visa-free access and is going out of the transit zone, they are required to get a Zimbabwe visa. It is recommended to get a visa in advance to have no issues with entry into Zimbabwe and going to the next destination.
