Kenya eVisa – General Information

Kenya eVisa is an electronic visa implemented by the Republic of Kenya in 2005. It allows foreign visitors to enter Kenya for tourism, business, or transit reasons.

The Kenya visa application form is easy to fill in. Eligible travelers may complete it from home. Thanks to that, they save time and money compared to a paper application visa process.

After submitting supporting documents and covering a fee, an applicant receives a Kenyan visa via email. The cost of it is 99 euros.

Travelers may choose between three visa types. Tourist and business visas for Kenya stay valid for 90 days from the date of issue and allow for a 3-month stay in Kenya (a transit visa is valid for 72 hours).

Who needs an eVisa to Kenya?

Citizens from other countries who would like to travel to Kenya must have a visa. Check if you are eligible for an online visa, as the process of getting it is very easy and convenient. You can use any electronic device, such as a PC or phone, with internet access to apply. Then you will receive a visa in PDF form via email.

Types of Kenyan electronic visas

Depending on travel purposes, there are four visa types:

• Tourist eVisa is issued for tourists who travel to Kenya for holidays, sightseeing, or visiting friends/families. This type of visa is valid for 90 days from the issue date and allows one entry and a maximum stay of 3 months (90 days).
• Business eVisa is a single-entry travel visa issued for business-related purposes (business meetings, etc.). The eVisa is valid for 90 days from the approval and allows one to stay up to 3 months.
• Transit eVisa – serves for entering Kenya to travel to another final destination. Its holders may stay in Kenya for a maximum of 72 hours.
• East Africa Tourist Visa is an online travel visa that allows traveling through Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda for tourism-related purposes. It is a multiple-entry visa that stays valid for 90 days. The cost is 149 euros

Every visa type is valid only with a not-expired passport. Remember to apply for the eVisa early enough.

If you don’t see your country of origin above, you cannot apply for an electronic visa. In this case, travelers must apply for paper visas at the Kenyan Embassy.

Kenya eVisa Application Instruction

Before you start applying for an eVisa to Kenya, make sure you have the necessary documents. You will find the list of them in the ‘Requirements’ section.

Here is a 3-step application guide that eligible travelers may follow. Select the purpose of your travel and go to the first step:

• Fill out the application form by completing your personal information and travel information. Upload the supporting documents. Double-check the provided data. Mistakes may cause delays in the approval or rejection of the application.
• Cover the visa fee. Different online payment methods are available. Choose the most appropriate form for you and save the confirmation delivered to your email.
• The approved Kenia eVisa will be delivered to the applicant’s email in PDF format. Print it and keep it for a journey.

Remember that you can enter the Kenyan border only with a valid visa and a passport that cannot expire in less than 6 months.

Requirements for Kenya visa online application

Different visa requirements depend on the selected visa type. Here is the list of necessary documents:

East Africa Visa

• a photograph of the bio-data page of the applicant’s passport
• the applicant’s face photograph (PC and camera photos are accepted)
• return ticket
• hotel reservation

Business eVisa

• a photo of the applicant’s passport
• passport bio-data page from representative
• the applicant’s face photograph (it may be a PC or a camera photo taken)
• the proof of a company registration certificate
• the status page of passport immigration of the representative
• staff ID of the representative of the company
• Kenyan ID of the company representative

Transit visa

• a picture of the bio-data page of the applicant’s passport
• proof of hotel reservations
• an applicant’s face photo
• onward ticket
• return ticket

The validity period of eVisa to Kenya

An eVisa to Kenya is valid for 90 days (or 72 hours in transit cases). You can stay in the country for 90 days with it (or 3 days with a transit visa).
