Japan eVisa

Japan eVisa – Basic information

Japan eVisa is an electronic visa currently available only for nationals of a few countries entering Japan by air. The country planned to introduce the eVisa system in April 2020 but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the date has been delayed. The list of Japan eVisa eligible nations is also expected to be extended soon.

Eligible travelers can use the approved electronic visa to visit Japan for the purpose of tourism or business and stay there for up to 90 days. Since the Japan online visa is issued as a single-entry visa, its holder can enter the country only once.

An applicant needs to complete a short online application form by providing personal and passport details, and travel-related information, as well as answering a few security questions.

Please note that Japan eVisa does not cover long-term stays in Japan or purposes such as work or study. For any other purpose than tourism or business, please contact the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate to get a visa covering your particular traveling needs.
