Types of Canadian eTA

The government of Canada offers one unified type of Travel Authorization, making it possible to utilize it for all purposes: tourism, transit or business.

Please remember you are not allowed to work with Electronic Travel Authorization eTA. To get a Work Visa, you must visit the Canadian Embassy.

Requirements for Canadian eTA

To ensure a successful approval process, you must:

  • have nationality from one of the qualified countries
  • arrive in Canada by air
  • hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the travel date
  • fill out correct data in the registration form
  • submit the eTA request at least 24 hours ahead of your departure

Upon arrival, your passport is the sole document which needs to be presented to the border authorities. The eTA, once granted, will be electronically linked to the passport number.
