Methods of getting a visa to Vietnam

According to the visa policy of Vietnam, there are two different methods of obtaining a Vietnamese visa. Depedning on your nationality, select the appropriate visa.

Electronic visa (e-Visa)

The Vietnam e-Visa was introduced in 2017 by the Vietnamese authorities. Currently, it is available for nationals of 80 countries. Apply online using an electronic registration form and cover the mandatory fee payment. An approved visa will be sent to your e-mail address, so remember to print it out before travel.

The e-Visa allows you to spend up to 30 days in Vietnam, enjoying tourism, leisure, and business. However, you can enter the country once.

Regular visa

The regular Tourist Visa to Vietnam may be easily obtained at the Embassy. Schedule an appointment at the office, submit your documents in person, and take part in a consular interview. It allows you to travel for purposes of tourism and business.

Apart from short-term trips, a Vietnamese visa may be issued at the Embassy for long-term travel (Work Visa, Study Visa). The validity period varies depending on the visa type.

Entry requirements for children

Children, similarly to adults, are required to possess a valid Vietnam visa in order to cross the country’s borders. Minors who are younger than 14 years may enter Vietnam using the passport of their parent or legal guardian. Older children should have their own passports.

Transit information

As long as your transit is happening in less than 24 hours and you do not leave the airport’s transit zone, you can visit Vietnam visa-free. However, if you do not meet these requirements, you must apply for Transit Visa at the Embassy or Transit e-Visa online.
